So, you’ve heard something about Reiki. Maybe someone has told you it helped them with a health or stress problem. Or maybe you saw that Reiki was offered at a hospital or clinic and wonder what it could be. Or you are in a lot of pain and are searching for something different to help you and just stumbled upon this website, while looking for a possible answer. Whatever your reason, you have come to the right place. There is help available here.
When I first found Reiki 25 years ago, I needed help with severe physical pain, work stress, family stress and a deeper spiritual connection. I was looking for a lot of answers. I’m here to tell you that Reiki treatment led to more relief than I could have imagined. Through practicing Reiki, I have improved every area of my life and helped hundreds of other people, as well.
What can Reiki therapy do for you? Reiki sessions offer you something in addition to standard medical treatments. It can help you relax and heal from any imbalance. More and more often Reiki is provided in hospitals and medical clinics because research studies have shown that people recover from their issues more rapidly when Reiki is part of the medical or psychological intervention.
Reiki therapy treatments can help bring you into balance, whether your needs are emotional, physical or spiritual. Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki created a system to promote health and happiness through connection to healing light.
What is Reiki?
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means “God” and Ki which means "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "God’s life force energy" or “spiritual life force energy.” The most common translation is Universal Energy.
Japanese Reiki is an energetic practice connecting us to Universal Healing Light.
Reiki is both a universal light energy and a set of practices to increase and deepen contact with the universal light for healing and balancing all areas that need healing and balance. This energy is called many things in different cultures. In spiritual traditions, it is most often called Love or God energy. In traditional Japanese Reiki Ryoho, it is called the Great Bright Light.
Reiki is a Japanese technique that promotes healing by increasing relaxation and reducing stress. Through hands placed on the body the invisible light energy flows into you and throughout the body going where it is needed to increase life force and remove blocks. The higher the life force you have the more capable of being healthy and happy you become.
You are Reiki. I know that sounds confusing but really Reiki is the energy in everything and everyone. It is the light or energy in us that makes us alive and more! So, if you are Reiki already what do you need from Reiki therapy? Well, even though it is true that you are Reiki, you probably can’t access it, now.
As a Reiki practitioner, I have been trained to be a channel for the Reiki light and can make it flow to you so that you can heal yourself. Reiki can heal you, I can assist by bringing you in better contact with the Reiki in you.
What happens during a Reiki therapy session?
When you arrive for a Reiki therapy session, normally you would fill out some paperwork answering questions about your reason for seeking Reiki therapy, your current health, medical or psychological treatment you are currently having for the concern or treatment you’ve had, in the past. You will usually discuss your answers with the Reiki practitioner. During the discussion you will have the opportunity to ask questions, too.
You will be asked to remove your shoes, belt and jewelry (or you may have been instructed to wear loose fitting comfortable clothing. ) You will remain fully clothed. You will then lie down on a massage or treatment table. Commonly, soothing music is played while you may meditate or be instructed to focus on breathing, a phrase or an area of your body. The practitioner will place hands on or just off your body (never touching erogenous zones.)
As the hands-on therapy continues, many people feel very relaxed and even fall asleep, some feel heat or tingling and some see colors. Some people have intense feelings arise during treatment. You may stop the treatment at any time or you may continue with help from the Reiki practitioner to deal with overflowing emotions. If you should happen to have an intense emotional experience, know this is completely normal and can even be helpful in the healing process.
After the hands-on session, you will have the opportunity to share your experience and ask questions about what happened for you. You will be instructed to drink plenty of water for the next two days as your body will be processing the infusion of light.
How much does Reiki cost?
Reiki is a relatively inexpensive route to health and happiness. Often Reiki therapy helps people heal much faster thereby saving money for prescriptions and time away from work due to injury or surgery. Reiki therapy can also really improve relaxation, sleep and mood. When you are less stressed, everything in life is easier. Often relationships both at the office and at home become much better.
If you seek a hands-on Reiki Therapy treatment you can expect to pay $80 or more per session. The cost varies depending on the experience of the practitioner. This cost is usually the same for an in-person session or a remote session.
Most people choose to have a series of sessions because it usually takes more than one session to find optimal relief from your complaint. It is common to book 6 to 10 sessions.
Many people seek training to become Reiki practitioners to heal themselves or another. The beginner’s training is Shoden Level I. This training enables you to perform Reiki on yourself and others. You will also learn about the system of Reiki and how to support your own personal growth, while helping yourself and others.
Okuden Reiki Level II training further deepens the knowledge and energy connection allowing you access to stronger Reiki and to learn more techniques to develop your cumulative knowledge and benefit you and those you choose to share with personally or professionally.
